Fab Fit Fun!

Hi everyone! After a long break, I’m back to blogging! I’ve been active on Instagram and Twitter, so you can always find me there in between blog posts. Hope you’ve been having a great summer! Summer is my favorite season, I love going to the parks, the beach and traveling (stay tuned for my future post about my  California trip).

Speaking of which, I decided to try out Fab Fit Fun right before summer began, so I received the Spring box full of summer goodies! I had a discount code of $10, so the box cost $39.99. The regular price is $49.99, but it’s a quarterly box rather than monthly and the value of the box is way above $100!

As you can see from the pictures, it’s a pretty large box! Also when you register you have to complete a profile, so you can tailor it to your preferences. I love everything and have been using all the products, so I’d say  my first box was a success! I also like that the bx contains a mix of different products, unlike other boxes which focus on just one specific area (skincare, makeup etc). See below for more pictures and details of the products inside!

This round tie-dye beach blank is one of my favorite finds from the box, together with the green bikini bag. I’ve been using both all summer long!
Since I have a monthly makeup subscription at the moment, I decided to cancel my FabFitFun after I tried this one box. However I would consider subscribing for a year in the near future, given the value and amount of products and how useful and fun they all were. I also discovered that after you cancel you can reactivate your account when you wish to continue with the subscription.

I hope that this post was fun to read as well as informative. Until next time!

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick

Disclaimer: I received the products featured in this blog complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes

Hi everyone! This summer I was one of the lucky people chosen by Influenster to review the Hourglasss Vanish Seamless Foundation Sitck & Brush set!

I’ve never used a stick foundation before, so I was very excited – and a little nervous- to try this! The appearance of the product alone is beautiful (see pictures below) and it received rave reviews on Sephora, but of course I had to test it and see for myself if it really lived up to its reputation.

Make Beauty review (with special discount code!)

Happy Spring everyone! After taking a short break from blogging, I’m back today with my review of Make Beauty. I was one of the lucky bloggers selected to review two of their products. Before I get into my review, I’d like to share  some information about the brand.

Make Beauty is a hypoallergenic beauty and skincare brand  and all their products are made in NYC. Here is a description of what this beauty company does:
“We develop products to spark your own irresistible desire to create. Professionally formulated but user friendly, every product is designed for personal experimentation –wear wet or dry, alone or layered, subtle or super-pigmented. The collections for lips, eyes, cheeks and skin offer rich formulations and rare palettes for an unconstrained range of colors, finishes and textures. Whether the look is a perfect no-makeup makeup or modern minimal alongside a more pigmented finish is entirely up to you.”

NYFW: Zac Posen Fall /Winter 2016 at Spring Studios

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% my own.

As many of you know, fashion week just ended here in NYC. This year I had the pleasure and honor of attending the Zac Posen Fall/Winter 2016 show at Spring Studios in Tribeca. This  was a fan moment for me, since he is not only one of my favorite designers, but also one of my favorite judges on Project Runway.

“For this collection, I had in mind the incredible journey of Princess Elizabeth  of Toro who gained a level of fame around the world in the 1960s for her kind nature, stunning appearance, and exceptional intellect.” -Zac Posen

Mr. Posen’s quote explains where the inspiration for this beautiful, elegant and versatile collection originated. Princess Elizabeth of Toro was the first black woman to get a spread in Vogue Magazine and  one of the first few female attorneys in East, Central and Southern Africa. (source: http://biography.yourdictionary.com/elizabeth-bagaaya-nyabongo-of-toro).  Given the inspiration, Zac Posen decided to cast a majority of of black models for this runway show, which is still rare in the fashion world.

Now onto my report of the runway show. While I anxiously waited for the show to begin, I was able to spot some celebrities, such as Katie Holmes, Carla Gugino, Nina Garcia (also from Project Runway), Coco Rocha, Jennifer Hudson and Miss J Alexander Runway Coach Diva Extraordinaire (you may remember him from ANTM).

I recently went to a Harmon store, and all these beautiful e.l.f. beauty products were on display.  You can all guess what happened next…I bought a bunch of them! They’re so affordable, it’s too tempting! I’ve used e.l.f. products before, so I decided to try some new ones this time around. Here is a list of what I purchased:

Purple Dream or Midnight Magic?

After taking a break from blogging for a few days, I decided to continue with my series of eye shadow looks from the Stila eye shadow palette and lookbook In the Moment. Also, I will be a guest at a friend’s wedding in a few days, so I thought I could experiment a bit and choose a look for the event. The first look I tried is called Purple Dream. In the Moment

My last post was about my latest makeup purchase, the Stila eyeshadow palette In the Moment. Another fellow lifestyle blogger (Arielle – her blog is called With All My Affection) suggested I do looks with the palette. I thought it was a great idea and It just so happens that this eyeshadow palette comes with a Lookbook so I decided to  write a separate post for each look to start. Today I’m writing about the first look, which is called Wide Eyed Wonder.

StilaLookbookb

I modified the look a little bit. I wanted a lighter daytime look, since I was just going out to run errands.

StilaLook1Pic3

To get it closer to the sample picture, you need a heavier hand and you have to wet the brush. You need at least two brushes, an eyelid brush and a crease brush. Also it can look more glamorous if you apply lashes. In the pictures I’m just wearing mascara (PhysiciansFormula Organic Wear Fakeout Mascara in Ultra Black). Overall I was pleased with the look, and I did think that it made my eyes look a little bigger and wider. It’s also very easy to replicate. That’s all for today’s look. Stay tuned for the next one!

Disclosure: I purchased my own Stila palette

“Cherish the beauty of the moment” (Sarah Lucero)

Hi everyone! I know it’s been a while since my last post.  I’ve been super busy and I also did some traveling (which I will post about at a later date). My post today is about one of my recent makeup purchases, an awesome eyeshadow palette from Stila, called In the Moment. First of all, I love that’s it’s purple since it’s one of my favorite colors. I tend to navigate towards mauve and purple because I think they work well with my complexion. Second, the palette comes with 10 different eyeshadows and colors, that you can mix and match or wear alone! This palette also includes a (sparkly!) purple eyeliner and a Lookbook. The Lookbook features 6 looks: Wide Eyed Wonder, Purple Dream, Sophisticated Stare, Midnight Magic, Captivating Eye and Magic Stare. I haven’t tried all the looks yet,  so far I really like Wide Eyed Wonder and Sophisticated Stare. I will give you an update once I try the other ones. Finally, as you can see in the picture, there is a quote printed on the inside of the cover, which I thought was a nice touch.  Overall, this eyeshadow palette was a good investment and I will definitely have fun creating new daytime and evening looks! Until next time!                                                           Stila Eyeshadow
