Happy Summer y’all! I finally have a little time to catch up on my blogging, and I wanted to start by sharing my experience at Beautycon NYC. I went back to Beautycon this Spring,  so in case you’re interested in checking it out, you’ll have to wait until next year. However, if you’re in California, BeautyconLA is happening on August 10th and 11th!

One of the first booths I stopped at was a hairstyling one. I always wanted to try extensions, so I did and I loved the transformation! Needless to say, I purchased them, although they were highly discounted!

Once my hair style changed, I had to stop to get some hair products. Fortunately the Verb booth was around the corner! In addition to receiving a free canvas bag and Ghost oil sample, there was a sale going on, so I decided to give their shampoo and conditioner a try! They also had this fun tub set up for photo ops!img_5109

Bioderma was another brand I was excited to see at Beautycon! I had been meaning to try their cleansing products. I bough a 2 pack of makeup remover wipes for $14.90, and I received a free travel micellar cleansing water with the purchase of a large one. They were also giving out samples of their face cleanser. St. Ives Mixing Bar

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% my own.

St. Ives

Curious about this neon sign? Well, this summer I made a discovery: St. Ives opened a pop-up mixing bar in downtown Manhattan! (Soho to be exact). I’ve always liked St. Ives products, but I kind of forgot about them for a while and this motivated be to give them another try. (Side note: the pop is only open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until September 30th, so get there while you can!)

When walking into the shop, right away you see the neon sign, the shop is very bright and everything is white, green and apricot-the St. Ives colors! One of the sales associates sent me to an area with sinks to try the products, she also gave me a form to fill out with my preferences. I could choose between a customized body lotion or face scrub- I went with the face scrub (you can also get both). Since I have sensitive skin, I choose the Avocado Honey Scrub, which hydrates and nourishes the skin and is a moderate exfoliant (I would have gone with the mild scrub, but it was sold out).

As I was standing online to hand in the form, I noticed these fun shelves decorated with different fruits that represent the St. Ives ingredients. You can see the watermelon and avocado display below.

Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask by Valentia Natural

Hello lovelies and Happy Summer! I hope that you all had a wonderful and a relaxing July 4th! This last month was stressful, so I took a little break from blogging to enjoy some much needed R&R at the beach! One way I try to relieve stress when I have a busy day (or week!) is to try to find a few minutes to pamper myself. Even during the course of my busiest week, I can usually find 15 minutes to do a face mask. I encourage and challenge everyone to do the same! You can watch your favorite trashy TV show while the mask is actively nourishing your skin! Or, if you’re really pressed for time, you can work at your computer or do chores (cleaning can also be a stress-relieving activity- well it is for me anyway!) and still reap the benefits of a face mask.  Which brings me to the latest mask I’ve been testing: the Skin Detoxifying Clay Mask by Valentia Skin Care!

OZ Naturals Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel

Hi everyone! I hope that all is well with you! As you already know from my previous reviews, I love OZ Naturals Skincare (link to previous review https://chicprettyfun.com/2015/10/19/oz-naturals-broad-spectrum-tinted-sunscreen-spf-30/).  For those of you who do not know much about the OZ Naturals company, their mission is to bring you skincare products that are  “anti-aging, natural ingredients, and utilizing the latest technology to formulate the highest quality skin care products on the market” as stated in the About Us page on their website (http://www.oznaturals.com/info/About_Us). As a pet owner, I also love that all OZ Natural products are cruelty free. As you may already know, I only review products that I believe in, I can tell you that OZ Naturals skincare products deliver what they promise and are also affordable.

Now onto my review of the Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel. As someone who has suffered from dark under eye circles since childhood, I’ve used a wide variety of skincare products over the years hoping to minimize their appearance, often with disappointing results. So when I was chosen by OZ Naturals to review the Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel, I jumped at the opportunity to try it! After testing this product for over a week I can tell you that it works! As with the other OZ Natural skincare products I have tried, I saw immediate results after just a few days. This eye gel contains the following ingredients: a Matrixyl Synthe’6 (a compound that regulates cell activity and collagen tissue remodeling) Haloxyl (reduces dark circles/anti-inflammatory), Caffeine (reduces puffiness), Hyaluronic Acid and Apple Stem Cells (both anti-aging).

Couture Fashion Week New York, Spring 2016

Fashion Show 8

This September I had the pleasure of attending Couture Fashion Week New York , in New York City. The show was fantastic, I really enjoyed the experience (and front row seats!). The show featured two prominent international couture designers, whose gowns have been worn by beauty pageant contestants around the world. The first collection was designed by renowned Dominican designer Lourdes Atencio. Overall, her Spring 2016 collection was fun and romantic. While the first few looks did not impress me, the collection improved for me as the show went on. Many of her pieces had a vintage vibe, and some evoked the 60s and 70s. I would have liked to see more of that since I love those eras. Some gowns also had a metallic fabric that looked like “liquid satin”,  which captured the light on the runway in an interesting way. While I liked many of the designs individually, I thought the collection could have been more cohesive.

This was the opening design. I love crop top and skirt sets, and I like green, however I did not love this combination.
