St. Ives

Curious about this neon sign? Well, this summer I made a discovery: St. Ives opened a pop-up mixing bar in downtown Manhattan! (Soho to be exact). I’ve always liked St. Ives products, but I kind of forgot about them for a while and this motivated be to give them another try. (Side note: the pop is only open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. until September 30th, so get there while you can!)

When walking into the shop, right away you see the neon sign, the shop is very bright and everything is white, green and apricot-the St. Ives colors! One of the sales associates sent me to an area with sinks to try the products, she also gave me a form to fill out with my preferences. I could choose between a customized body lotion or face scrub- I went with the face scrub (you can also get both). Since I have sensitive skin, I choose the Avocado Honey Scrub, which hydrates and nourishes the skin and is a moderate exfoliant (I would have gone with the mild scrub, but it was sold out).

As I was standing online to hand in the form, I noticed these fun shelves decorated with different fruits that represent the St. Ives ingredients. You can see the watermelon and avocado display below.

When it was my turn, I handed in the form and was informed that it would be a 45 minute wait-yikes! Well I had committed at this point, so  I decided to walk around Soho and come back  rather than waiting in the shop. Finally I received a text, and I got there as they were mixing my facial scrub. It was a really fun and interesting process to see. The scrub cost $12, but it was a large container filled to the top- actually it was so much that some of it spilled into the bag. Also I like that it has my name on it, it feels more personalized. The scrub has a foamy consistence, the dark spots are the coconut shell powder, which is what I chose as an exfoliant. Here are other fun things you can do in the St. Ives pop-up shop:

  • Get free samples from a machine – you need to enter your email- such as body wash (my choice), lotion and scrubs. The samples are large travel size.
  • Buy candles, prepared lotions and scrubs
  • Try different products at the sink area
  • Take pictures and GIFs in the St. Ives infinity room-this was super fun! See pictures below; for the animated GIF, check out my Instagram page → Chic Pretty Fun

All in all, it was a really fun experience, and I really love the scrub! If you’d like more information, go to St. Ives Mixing Bar
