Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award
Hello everyone! So it’s been a few days since my last post. Today I’m actually going to take a little break from my usual beauty & fashion posts, since I’ve been nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award! Thank you so much to Claire from My Life in Words for the nomination! I am honored to be included in such a wonderful international community of bloggers! I listed to rules below, followed by my answers, my questions and my nominations
Rules:
1. Thank and link the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 10 questions your nominator has provided.
3. Nominate 10 other bloggers.
4. Create 10 questions for your nominees and notify them of their nomination.
My Answers
1. If you could travel to any country where would you go?
I’d like to travel through Asia since I’ve never been and see some of the major cities (Seoul, Hong-Kong and Tokyo).
2. What is your all time favorite beauty product?
Without a doubt, black liquid eye liner. I’ve been wearing it since I was 16 years old.
3. Which clothes shops do you enjoy shopping at most?
For work/everyday apparel, I like Ann Taylor and Banana Republic because they have petite sizes. I also like to shop at H&M and Express. For formal and evening wear, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdales have a nice selection. Online, I love Asos and Lulus.
4. What made you start a blog?
I’d been thinking about starting a fashion/beauty blog for many years. I finally decided this summer I should just go ahead and give it a try instead of just talking about it. In Shakespeare’s words, “Action is eloquence”.
5. Lipstick or eyeshadow?
Definitely eyeshadow. My favorite evening look is a smokey eye with a neutral lip
6. What’s the last makeup item you purchased?
NYC Cityproof lip crayon
7. Name something you love and something you hate.
I’m gonna stick to beauty & fashion here. I love earrings and statement necklaces, I hate Crocs clogs.
8. Favorite skincare brand.
At the moment, I really like Burt’s Bees for skincare because it’s a more natural brand and also pretty affordable.
9. Favorite makeup brushes.
Lately I’ve been using Sonia Kashuk brushes and some e.l.f. ones, but I’d like to invest in more expensive brushes eventually.
10. What’s the eyeshadow palette you always reach for?
I don’t have an all time favorite. RIght now, I’m using either the Stila In the Moment palette, which has a variety of mauve/purple eye shadows or the Physician’s Formula Natural Nude palette. I really want to try the Urban Decay Naked palette, but I’m going to wait since I have so much eyeshadow right now!

Purple Dream or Midnight Magic?
After taking a break from blogging for a few days, I decided to continue with my series of eye shadow looks from the Stila eye shadow palette and lookbook In the Moment. Also, I will be a guest at a friend’s wedding in a few days, so I thought I could experiment a bit and choose a look for the event. The first look I tried is called Purple Dream. In the Moment
My last post was about my latest makeup purchase, the Stila eyeshadow palette In the Moment. Another fellow lifestyle blogger (Arielle – her blog is called With All My Affection) suggested I do looks with the palette. I thought it was a great idea and It just so happens that this eyeshadow palette comes with a Lookbook so I decided to write a separate post for each look to start. Today I’m writing about the first look, which is called Wide Eyed Wonder.

I modified the look a little bit. I wanted a lighter daytime look, since I was just going out to run errands.
To get it closer to the sample picture, you need a heavier hand and you have to wet the brush. You need at least two brushes, an eyelid brush and a crease brush. Also it can look more glamorous if you apply lashes. In the pictures I’m just wearing mascara (PhysiciansFormula Organic Wear Fakeout Mascara in Ultra Black). Overall I was pleased with the look, and I did think that it made my eyes look a little bigger and wider. It’s also very easy to replicate. That’s all for today’s look. Stay tuned for the next one!
Disclosure: I purchased my own Stila palette
“Cherish the beauty of the moment” (Sarah Lucero)
Hi everyone! I know it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been super busy and I also did some traveling (which I will post about at a later date). My post today is about one of my recent makeup purchases, an awesome eyeshadow palette from Stila, called In the Moment. First of all, I love that’s it’s purple since it’s one of my favorite colors. I tend to navigate towards mauve and purple because I think they work well with my complexion. Second, the palette comes with 10 different eyeshadows and colors, that you can mix and match or wear alone! This palette also includes a (sparkly!) purple eyeliner and a Lookbook. The Lookbook features 6 looks: Wide Eyed Wonder, Purple Dream, Sophisticated Stare, Midnight Magic, Captivating Eye and Magic Stare. I haven’t tried all the looks yet, so far I really like Wide Eyed Wonder and Sophisticated Stare. I will give you an update once I try the other ones. Finally, as you can see in the picture, there is a quote printed on the inside of the cover, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, this eyeshadow palette was a good investment and I will definitely have fun creating new daytime and evening looks! Until next time!

Summer Shoe Fun!
My newest shoe acquisition is this pair of Circa Joan and David white & metallic sandals, from the Luxe collection. I found myself without white sandals for the summer season, having purged my closet of anything old and worn out during my spring cleaning. Now that it’s finally June, I feel that I can officially wear white since it’s after Memorial Day (I know, it’s an old rule we don’t have to follow anymore-what can I say, I just feel weird wearing white before the holiday!). So I miraculously found a stylish pair my size (woot woot!) on sale on Hautelook (www.hautelook.com- this site has awesome sales every day) that was the color (white/metallic) and heel height (about 3 inches) I was looking for and that appeared to be comfortable enough to wear at work all day. Since I purchased this pair online, I did not know how they would actually look and feel in person. Well, they arrived today, and it turns out they are not only very cute and elegant, but also super-comfortable! I was so excited that I did not have to send them back! I will definitely consider buying this brand again.
I would love to hear what is your latest summer shoe acquisitions and what styles and brands you like! Please share your thoughts!
Foundation or CC Cream? That is the question
For the past few years, I’ve been experimenting with different types of makeup. I always look for something that’s affordable, moisturizing and that evens out my skin tone. I’ve tried them all: mineral powder (too dry for my skin), regular foundation (I still use it, just not every day), BB Cream and now CC Cream. So far, CC cream is my favorite makeup for my everyday wear (although I really liked a BB Cream that my sister had brought me back from a trip to Japan- it’s called Dr Ci-labo, but I’ve only been able to find it online and it’s expensive). Recently I’ve been reading a lot about organic foundation, so I decided to give it a try. Juice Beauty has become a popular organic brand and it was on sale, so I bought the Perfecting Foundation with acai and goji berries. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. As someone with dry skin, I found it to be too dry for me, and difficult to apply (I tried with both a makeup sponge and just my hands). I couldn’t continue wearing it, but since I couldn’t make a trip to Sephora to buy my usual CC Cream, I picked up a Physicians Formula Youthful Wear CC Cream from the local drug store. This one turned really nice, the color was a good match to my skintone (light/medium) and it was moisturizing (and very affordable- under $20). I think I’ll go back to the Sephora CC Cream after I finish this one, but the PF one was definitely a good find.
What’s your favorite makeup?
