Hi there! While we are only a couple of weeks away from Spring, it’s still cold here on the East Coast -well, some days anyway, it’s been a crazy Winter! With the cold comes dry skin, which means I’m in desperate need for hydrating skincare products. I was one of the lucky people selected to try a hydrating skincare line by a new company called Valentia. The timing could not have been more perfect!
Valentia was the Roman Goddess of healing and she relied on what nature provided to heel the citizens of Umbria. She would help farmers heel their damaged skin from the sun with natural ingredients, such as berries and herbs. Similarly to the goddess that inspired it, the Valentia skincare company uses natural ingredients that can help repair sun and wind damage, and prevent wrinkles and dark spots (paraphrased from http://www.valentia.com/pages/about-us).
I received two products for testing: the Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask and the True Glow Eye Cream. I tested both of them for about 2-3 weeks. I’m going to review the hydrating mask first.
As you can see from the picture, the packaging is really nice and it’s a pretty good size, which means you get a lot of product- always a plus! The main ingredients are: Aloe Vera, Japanese Green Tea and Organic Rosehip Seed Oil.
Even though it’s a mask, it looks more like a jar of face cream, with a somewhat jelly consistency. The instructions are that you just leave it on for anywhere between 15-30 minutes. Then you wipe it off with a damp cloth and warm water. The process is somewhat time consuming, so I would apply the mask in the evening and wipe it off before going to sleep. Then I followed my usual skincare routine, which involves applying a serum, a night cream and eye cream.
This mask has a pleasant scent. The first time I applied it I did get a tingling sensation on areas of redness, but other than that the mask did not sting or irritate my skin. As per the description on amazon.com, this mask claims to “rescue skin from dry dullness” as well as reduce fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots. I can’t say that I saw a drastic reduction of fine lines and dark spots, but overall, I liked this mask. After each use my skin felt plumper, smoother and moisturized. Since I have very dry skin in the winter, I would probably use this in the warmer months and look for a heavier mask for Fall & Winter. However, I think this is a great hydrating mask that someone with normal-to-dry skin could use all year round.

Next I’m going to review the Valentia True Glow Eye Cream.
I was very impressed by this eye cream! The packaging is again very appealing and it comes in a pump, which I love. You get a lot of product for your money, and it has a great citrus smell! I had to get used to the pump at first, since most eye creams I buy come in a tube. Since a lot of product comes out, one pump was enough for me to moisturize both eyes. I also love that it is absorbed by the skin pretty quickly, so it’s a great eye cream for both day and night. In the morning I only applied it to the under-eye area, at night I also applied to the eyelids.
Again I haven’t seen a major reduction in wrinkles, however that may be more of a longterm effect. This eye cream is definitely moisturizing and it does make the skin around the eye area more radiant. Amongst other ingredients, the True Glow Eye Cream contains Vitamin C (leaves skin smooth and visibly brighter), Organic Rose Hip Oil, (to provide hydration), Resistem (to protect skin from pollutants), and Astaxanthin a powerful antioxidant.
